Irving Berlin, nacido Israel Isidore Baline​ (Maguilov, Bielorrusia, 11 de mayo de 1888-Nueva York, 22 de septiembre de 1989) fue un compositor y letrista de Broadway, nacionalizado estadounidense, uno de los más prolíficos y famosos de la historia contemporánea de América. Cuando le pidieron evaluar el lugar de Irving Berlin en la música americana, el compositor de canciones Jerome Kern dijo, inmediatamente, “Irving Berlin no tiene ningún 'lugar' en la música americana, Irving Berlin es la música americana."​ Berlin fue uno de los pocos compositores de Tin Pan Alley/Broadway que escribieron tanto las letras como la música de sus canciones.
